Challenge

Our client, a leading diagnostic device manufacturer, asked us to provide a full breakdown of number of diagnostic tests performed in hospitals for each of the four UK countries across 14 different diseases to support their market understanding and growth areas

Approach

We started with desk research to understand the incidence, prevalence and number of un-diagnosed patients to be able to create a forecasting model

We then followed up with Freedom of Information requests to each hospital Trust to be able to scale up to a country and UK level

Outcome

We provided the client with robust estimation of the market size in diagnostic devices for England and Scotland based on 20%-50% coverage of actual numbers of tests

This was scaled up across the UK and it helped form the basis for the client’s annual strategic planning
